i'm not clean, but that doesn't make me dirty!

This is what style looks like...from these closets come the fabulous creations of myself and Branden Griffith. Stay tuned next week for "A Week in the Life of Brittany" and "A Week in the Life of Branden!"

the differences between my friends and acquaintances are the shoes they wear and the jokes they tell...but mostly the shoes they wear

You can tell a lot about a person by what they're wearing on their feet. I constantly find myself looking at peoples' shoes. I'm sure that it looks like I'm giving them the up and down, but no worries, not checking you out, just looking at your feet! I'm all for feeling comfy in your shoes, but sometimes you have to make comfort take the back seat and let fashion ride shotgun. You may not be as comfortable, but I can guarantee if you choose flats over slippers, you will feel more confident.
No pain, no gain!

For example, this morning I woke up about 10 minutes before I had to meet Derrik (featured in this post) for breakfast and needless to say, I was in a fashion panic! There was no way to turn my side pony into a more respectable hair style and there was certainly no way to pick out a blog-worthy outfit so I decided to go with yoga pants and a sweatshirt.** Then i was faced with the decision to wear moccasins or flat-like tennis shoes. I went with the flats. All this to say, I felt a little less messy because of my shoe choice. I often find that wearing different types of shoes change the way your outfit works and the way people perceive your ensemble and sometimes even your mood.

Another observation that I have come by is that sometimes boys have more stylish shoes than girls. Even though they may be pairing their footwear with sweats or much too baggy jeans, their shoes definitely have style. Having overly colorful shoes seems like the norm for some college boys, which is so admirable to me! My friend Derrik is always wearing different colored vans - he has 14 pairs of just vans! I would never be able to have 14 of the same style/brand of shoe, but I suppose it is different for boys, and if something works, don't change it. Different colors in the same style can be a great investment! Go Derrik!

So the point of this post is that I love shoes! Boat shoes, boots, flip-flops, moccasins, heels, pumps, sandals! (and tennis shoes only if you're working out) And I definitely notice what kind you're wearing. Shoes may not be what define you, but they definitely influence your outfit and mood. There is a man that I've seen on campus exactly three times and I DIE over his style and the kicker is, HE DOESN'T WEAR SHOES! When I've seen him, he's been wearing dress pants and a button down shirt under a vest of various colors. Unfortunately, I haven't had a camera to capture his fabulosity, but I will be armed and ready to go tomorrow. My hopes are high that I will see this stylish, bare-foot mystery man soon. :)

**after I went to my only class of the day, I promptly took a shower and changed into something more suitable for the public.
